SHORT BIO

Mamo Lorenzo Izquierdo is a spiritual leader of the Arhuaco people from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, born in 1975. Recognized since before his birth by elder Mamo Bunterin, he has dedicated his life to the preservation of balance between humanity, nature, and the spiritual forces that sustain life. His spiritual name, Summmumpawium Bunkwaringekun Bunsiunchuwiun, reflects his mission as “the light that undresses the light, light that frees from darkness,” and as one who listens deeply to guide others back to the origin of their being and awaken each person’s unique gift. Trained from a young age by Arhuaco elders and spiritual authorities, and following years of profound initiation and service, Mamo Lorenzo carries the responsibility of a Mamü: to maintain harmony with Mother Earth through prayer, offerings, and spiritual guidance, walking a lifelong path of service to protect the balance of the world.

“Universal tribe, alliance of the light, that has been our retreat.  We sit, we cleanse and purify ourselves, and we cleanse Mother Earth. 

Although many of us still lack anchoring the light in the heart, in the thinking, the harmony, the strength, the balance, the patience, the tranquility. No more feeling insufficient. That feeling that something is missing, or that we still feel blame toward another, is not because the other does not have it, but because we still need to anchor strongly an individual nobility without feeling alone. 

If we have the light with full strength, we can begin to give that light, into the hearts, into the thinking toward the other. When we feel that something is still missing, it is because we have not empowered ourselves, the strength with the staffs that a human being requires. We have come with everything, but we need to remember, where is that strength, that balance, that we have, that ancient memory. 

I invite all beings of the alliance of the light. Do not let yourselves be provoked by bad thoughts. It is no longer time to worry, it is no longer time to blame the other. It is time for harmony to be anchored in our heart and thinking. And everything we say has to be sweet like the corn, rich like cacao, as the wise ones say. So that the word that goes out into the other can make them feel that light and that balance, a tranquility, an infinite patience. That is the invitation I make to all the universal tribes that I have known in these retreat of 9 days, of 7 days.”

Children all ages are warmly welcome. This retreat is designed to be shared as a family, recognizing children as an essential part of building a future rooted in connection—with nature and the spiritual world.

We encourage participants to attend the full experience, but we welcome those who can join for 3, 4, or 5 days as well.
